Don't buy any local .tv domains

This isn't specifically local-related, but it's interesting, so I'm posting it.  There had been a big push to sell .tv domains (from the island of Tuvalu, which is a total disaster - read about it or listen to the great This American Life about it).  Anyways, I'm sure a lot of geodomainers or other local people have spent a fair amount of time and money buying those domains.  But what happens if you buy a domain and the country ceases to exist?  Tuvalu is actually sinking and may be gone soon.  Because of that, GoDaddy is warning against buying them.  Should be an interesting study.  Apparently some former Soviet Union (.su) domains still function, but who knows what will happen with this one.
